Arts Planning
Planmakers places emphasis on
supporting
art and culture as demonstrated in
the preparation of the
Boise Cultural District Master Plan, which takes a deliberate approach to
integrating the arts into downtown redevelopment. The Boise Cultural District is
now playing a role in the life of the city and helping integrate art into the
daily life of those who live, work, and visit Boise.
Planmakershas prepared a number of plans to expand Idaho’s cultural facilities
and assist cultural institutions plan for the future. Through an active
participation process, the development plan helps identify a group’s mission,
goals, programs, building needs, management and funding. Examples
include the Idaho Black History Museum, the Log Cabin Literary Center, Idaho
Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho, the Wilson Theater
in Rupert, the Pon Yam Museum
in Idaho City, and Boise's Bown House, a heritage education center.
Planmaker’s commitment to the arts includes using imaginative design solutions
to reincorporate historic elements into public spaces. Examples include
transforming C.W. Moore Park with a water wheel and reclaimed historic artifacts
and the placement of an art deco concrete spire adjacent to Boise's Hoff Building.
